Does This Hero Make Me Look Old?
I watched the movie Push this week while on the treadmill and while it’s a really good movie about humans with superhuman abilities, I wasn’t glued to the screen because of the twists and turns, the awesome action scenes or the dynamics between the characters. No, I was mesmerized by one thing and one thing only:
Chris Evans.
He’s just so pretty! He’s also, much to my dismay, younger than I am. And not just a few years either. More like eleven years. That’s right. ELEVEN. *sigh*
Which brings me to my question for the day - Is it okay for a woman of my age to crush on a much younger guy? I mean, if Demi Moore can marry a man (a real cutie, too *g*) fifteen years her junior, why can’t I go with the flow of my favorite crushes? After all, I’ve never felt guilty or weird about my love for Harrison Ford and he’s old enough to be my father
So, I’ve decided to stop worrying that crushing on a younger, hot star makes me a cougar. Or worse, a pervert *g* Instead, I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite, younger hotties:
James McAvoy - loved in him Penelope!
Jake Gyllenhaal - who has recently made a few appearances on this blog *g*
Jensen Ackles - one of my favorite Winchester brothers!
What about you? Who are some of your favorite younger actors? And what do you think of my picks?

Ooo, Jensen… come to mama, baby!
Beth, if I felt bad about every younger man I found attractive, I’d never leave my house!
I like that fact that older women are no longer quite considered “over the hill” as early as they used to be, but I must say that I don’t like the emphasis on the term “cougar” - it sounds so predatory, as though we older women hide in the bushes, and wait for the right moment to pounce on some poor unsuspecting guy! You, however, are nowhere near the “cougar” category yet - you’re still in the kitten phase!
I’ll let you in on a little family secret: I’m the only one in my family who is married to an older man. All three of my sisters are married to men younger than themselves - one by four years, one by five years, and one by ten years. Our mother got remarried when she was in her sixties, to a man 23 years younger! Seriously.
Dare I say, “Rowr!”

I don’t care for “cougar” either. I think it’s wonderful to feel attraction to someone younger; it means I’m not yet dead! Besides, don’t you want to get hold of them and teach ‘em the right way to do things, before they get to the couch potato state?
I want to be one of those old women with no shame that chases the male nurses around the nursing home! I don’t know any really young hotties, not by name anyway. They’ve all been eclipsed by a certain soon-to-be-40 hottie in his own right.
I’ve seen Jake Gyllenhaal in a couple movies, but I didn’t realize he was that young. Those are some nice pictures, Beth. What is Chris Evans in besides Push?

Yyyyyum!
Nothing wrong with admiring a younger man. (Especially since the ratio of young:old hotties increases on the side of the young every year :p)
I do, however, remember being shocked when going to a dinner at an acquaintance’s house and finding an very wealthy 80 yo woman (with the body of a 28 year old, thanks to the miracle of modern surgery) in the company of a 23 yo cutie pie. He was her eye/arm/bed candy and she was quite happy to be his sugar mama.
IDK…20 year gap is probably the most that works for me. And only if the younger person is emotionally/mentally mature and preferably >28. (I figure at 30 you have been out on your own enough to actually have learned to take care of yourself, be a responsible adult, know what you want in life.)

I am 14 months older than my hubby - and he has a difficult time keeping up with me.
I have no problem drooling over younger hunks - as you well know my addiction for Gerard Butler. If appreciating their talents and the hard work their mother went through to create them puts a smile on your face, then I say GO FOR IT!

LOL! Thank you, Terri. Most days I still feel like a kitten
I don’t like the term cougar either for the reasons you listed.
And just for the record, my husband is ten years older than I am. I’m so glad he didn’t have anything against dating a younger woman

Thanks, Heather! Aren’t they all pretty?
Chris was in both Fantastic Four movies as the Human Torch, Not Another Teen Movie (though I think he had dark hair for that) and The Nanny Diaries (which I have yet to see *g*)
I have to admit, I was surprised by Jake’s age, too. I thought he was in his mid-thirties. And he’s with an older woman, too

I think that would be my cut-off as well, CL. Mainly because I had my son at 20 and I’m not sure I could crush on a guy who was the same age as my precious baby boy
At least both the older woman and her young hottie were happy with their arrangement. I guess that’s all that matters!

LOL, Paisley! I believe it! He’s lucky to have you
And I’m going to take your advice and appreciate these younger guys!

Mmmm Mmmm Good!!!
I’m giggling over Heather’s comment: Besides, don’t you want to get hold of them and teach ‘em the right way to do things, before they get to the couch potato state?
Oh yeah, baby. Along with the hard body, the sexy babyface and and the sweet dream of all that stamina, this is the top reason why younger guys are SO hot!!!
(wiping drool)

Oh boy love the pics!!! Give me a handsome hunk anytime!!!

I have always enjoyed the company of younger men
beginning with dating a junior when I was a senior
in high school. I married a man six years younger
some 48 years ago, and we’re still together. At
one time, there was a crush on a football playing
friend who was (& still is) 10 years younger.

LOL, Tawny! I’d say all your reasons of why younger guys are hot are all pretty important
September 11th, 2009 @ 6:42 pm
Thanks, Colleen. I found some good pictures. Of course, I had to go through a lot of them before I could picke the ones I posted. Quite a hardship, I tell ya
September 11th, 2009 @ 6:44 pm
Pat, you’re a younger man magnet! Good for you
And I do love me a football player! I’m so glad it’s NFL time again

Sigh, I am really showing my age. I don’t even recognize any of your “younger” crushes. I don’t even recognize some of the names. I do agree with you about Harrison Ford, but he is more of a contemporary. It is sad when all the hunks out there could be my sons, almost grandsons.
September 11th, 2009 @ 10:28 pm
Patricia, we won’t let a little thing like age stop us from crushing on those young ‘uns! Although I do draw the line at anyone under 25
September 11th, 2009 @ 11:09 pm
Oh, Beth — lovely, lovely pics! I have to say that even though they’re all hunk-worthy, I’m just an older guy kind of gal. What can I say? Now I, on the other hand, love the term “cougar.” If I were to ever stalk the younger men, I’d most definitely pounce on them from my hiding place. Heck, that’s probably the only hope I’d have of catching them. LOL Fun blog!

LOL! I’ve seen you hide (remember after the Harlequin party in San Fran?) so I KNOW you’d catch those young hunks unawares

Nothing wrong with looking and admiring and who cares if we are ladies of a certain age. As a committed celibate, the sheer aesthetic joy of just adoring them is more than enough for me. They are living works of art and should be on pedestals for me to gaze at all day long !
